Our full-time Paramedics work a variety of shifts and typically work between 48-60 hours per week. Part-time and per diem personnel generally work fewer hours. American Ambulance Paramedics must be proficient in all of their skills, excel in clinical knowledge, and maintain a firm grasp of the policies and procedures of the regional system. Paramedics must be able to assess a scene, prioritize, delegate, and adapt to various environments and challenges. A current California Paramedic License or National Registry Paramedic Certification is required to apply for this position.

Part-time and per diem personnel work fewer hours. Whether working on an ALS unit, BLS unit, or a Special Event unit, EMTs play a significant role in our team. Our EMTs are relied upon and have a great deal of responsibility to ensure scene operations run smoothly and safely. A current EMT certification from any California EMS Agency or National Registry EMT Certification is required to apply for this position.

American Ambulance of Visalia helped establish a joint, non-profit, dispatch center dedicated solely to the dispatch and management of ambulance resources within Tulare County. The dispatchers staff and operate the Tulare County Consolidated Ambulance Dispatch (TCCAD), which is a secondary Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) in the 9-1-1 system. Dispatchers at TCCAD provide callers with pre-arrival instructions and utilize the latest technology in Computer Aided Dispatch. Previous dispatch experience is preferred, but it is not required to apply for this position. Local certification procedures are required prior to work within the region. American Ambulance of Visalia utilizes Millennium Medical Billing, Inc., to handle all claims management. The billers operate computers, printers, fax machines, calculator and other office equipment to compile and compare customer charges for ambulance and event stand-by services. Billers compute costs, understand the medical bill coding specific to ambulance transportation and must have a grasp of medical terminology. The biller compiles data for billing, prepares invoices, works with health care agencies, health care systems and third-party insurance providers. The biller will also request insurance data, review documents and analyze patient transport records for billing and prepares needed correspondence. Our support staff perform many different tasks. These tasks may involve inventorying, washing, fueling, filing records, or restocking ambulances. Our support staff are a vital component of the team. A valid California Driver’s License may be required to apply for this position.
