Over the past few fire seasons, our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care in our field has been unwavering. At American Ambulance of Visalia, our approach to hiring, training, and supporting our team sets us apart from other medical contractors in the fire industry.

Unlike those who engage in "mass hiring" by bringing in hundreds of contract employees and working through a generic "call list" for job assignments, we take a more personalized route. We are not interested in hiring contract employees seeking only sporadic "one-off assignments." Instead, we invest time and effort into recruiting and training precisely the number of employees we require for the season.

Our dedicated team members can anticipate working for a substantial duration, ranging from 30 to 100+ days within a single season. This approach ensures that our staff is well-prepared, well-supported, and consistently focused on providing top-notch care.

At our organization, we place a significant emphasis on investing in our employees and fostering their proficiency in their respective roles. Our goal is to ensure that you are fully prepared for your first day on the fireline. We take immense pride in not only your professional competence but also in the meticulous care you provide to our equipment and, most importantly, to the individuals you serve. As part of this commitment, we mandate in-person attendance at our annual Fireline EMS Refresher course.

This comprehensive 4-day program serves as an introduction to the intricacies of the fire industry and the vital responsibilities of a medical provider on the fireline. During this course, you will gain familiarity with the equipment integral to our operations, including 4x4 ambulances, cardiac monitors, radios, maps, and more. 

Our objective is to prepare you comprehensively for your first day on the fireline, instilling in your sense of pride in both your equipment and the quality of care you deliver. 

We also place a strong emphasis on investing in the growth and expertise of our employees. To ensure your on-going proficiency in your role, we make it a requirement for all our team members to attend our annual Fireline EMS Refresher course in person.

In this industry and within our organization, the ability to communicate effectively is a fundamental key to success. The nature of this job demands resourcefulness and the capacity to work in challenging, austere environments for extended periods, often exceeding 14 days at a stretch. Equally important is maintaining clear and consistent communication with your partner, division, Med Unit Leaders, field supervisor, and the administrative team.

Our trust in our employees is paramount, as they play a central role in keeping us informed about their assignment location, the condition of their vehicle and equipment, and the nature of the calls they handle. Given the multitude of moving parts during the season, details can sometimes become lost in the shuffle. The most reliable way to stay on track and maintain a favorable standing is to emphasize proactive and thorough communication.
